Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form. Use to frost the cooled cake layers.
Notes
For a decorative touch, add edible flowers or chocolate shavings as a garnish.
